"Emperor Pen Gwin is tremendously overrated," tweeted Trump.
By: Doug A. HoleWashington, DC – On Friday, President Trump made a scheduled one-hour call to Emperor Pen Gwin of Antarctica. The call, which lasted only 5 minutes, started out cordially, but quickly turned sour when Trump suggested mining operations in Antarctica and said that he was sending troops down there to “take the oil.” Pen Gwin explained to Trump that there is this thing called the Antarctic Treaty, and the Protocol on Environmental Protection part of the Treaty states that Antarctica is designated as a “natural reserve, devoted to peace and science.” Trump responded, “Peace and Science? What a disaster! I’m going to study this dumb deal.”
Pen Gwin also pressed Trump on his planned environmental deregulations and his anti-EPA pick, Scott Pruitt, to lead the EPA. “It’s freezing cold down there. I’d think you’d be a little more appreciative if we sent some global warming your way,” Trump told the Emperor.
