Washington, D.C. – In the wake of so many school shootings, thoughtful people all across America are trying to find ways to keep our students safe. Resourceful administrators in rural areas have armed teachers and students with rocks to throw at would-be shooters. Others suggest that having more police patrolling the halls is the answer while many support arming teachers.
Now a group of educators is stepping up to the plate. Small, but growing, coalitions of African American and Muslim teachers are volunteering to pack heat. Kindergarten teacher Lakeisha Jackson, says, "I want to be the good guy when the bad guy comes calling."
The NRA supports the idea of arming teachers, however, NRA President, Oliver North, has been strangely silent regarding the brave and selfless offer made by African American and Muslim teachers.
