"It's an eyesore," says Trump. "Yosemite should be glad I'm taking it off thier hands."
By: Sherwood DeWittYosemite, CA – President-elect Donald Trump is proposing a radical ideal that will take care of “a huge eyesore” and create “thousands of jobs”. Trump plans to “dismantle and level” Yosemite’s iconic Half Dome and open up a granite countertop factory using the recovered granite from the national icon.
Many people are concerned about what a Trump presidency will do to the National Parks Service and the federal lands which make up nearly 30% of the land in the United States. When Barbara Walters asked Trump in an interview on 20/20 Friday night, “What are your plans for the national parks?” Trump responded “I have lots of plans. Lots and lots of plans. Let me first start off with Half Dome. Quite frankly, it’s an eyesore. I am going to dismantle and level Half Dome and open up the biggest, best granite countertop factory in America using all the granite from Half Dome. We will employ 5000, or maybe 10,000, who knows, maybe even 15,000 people.” He went on to explain that every American will have Half Dome granite countertops. Trump says this is a win-win situation for everyone. “People said I didn’t care about women. When they are in the kitchen making dinner on their Half Dome granite countertops, they are going to be so happy.”
Yosemite Park ranger Jim Hikesalot is outraged. He says “Half Dome is an American icon and must be preserved. It is over ninety-three million years old. We cannot let Trump take it for granite.” Trump responded that the parks service should be happy he’s taking it off their hands. “I’m not even really getting my money’s worth here. It’s not like it’s a Whole Dome.” When Walter’s questioned Trump whether or not he was paying for the granite, Trump replied “It’s on federal land, so therefor, it’s already mine and I will do what I want.”
