Cottonwood, AZ - On Tuesday, December 6th, 2016, president-elect Donald Trump declares that he will "make sure women are taken care of. Nobody cares about women more than me." He went on to say, in an interview with CNN correspondent Wolf Blitzer, that he will ensure that all American women have access to affordable, safe healthcare including cancer screenings, well-woman exams, birth control, and even, easily accessible, safe abortions.

In an interview at a town hall, with Chris Matthews of MSNBC, on March 30, 2016, Donald Trump said "Yes, they should be punished" in response to a question posed about whether or not women should be punished for having an abortion. When Blitzer questioned Trump on the position that he took on abortion back in March, Trump responded, "Well, ya' know, that's just 'boy talk.' Ya' know, 'locker room banter'. You need to take that with a grain of salt. When you're campaigning, you say what you need to say to get elected. But seriously, women's health issues are very important to me."

Many Republicans quickly responded with disdain at Trump's apparent flip-flop on the issue of women's health. John Kasich was quoted as saying "I told you so. I warned you and you didn't listen." Back in April, 2016, Kasich did in fact warn that if Trump were elected president, we will be on a "path to darkness" and "that could drive America down a ditch."

In Kasich's home state of Ohio, the "Heartbeat Bill", which would ban abortions after a heartbeat is detected by a fetus, as quickly as six weeks after conception, is being considered. Kasich has 10 days to sign or veto it. Many women do not even know they are pregnant six weeks after conception. In response, Kasich reiterates that women are inferior to men and that the men that are running this country must protect American fetuses. He went on to quote Bible verse "To the woman [God] said, I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you. -Genesis 3:16" In an ironic twist, that statement made women want abortions even more.

Donald Trump responded with a tweet at 3:42 am, "I don't care what that loser Kasich says. I beat him Big League in his own state."
